Single panel width is a total of 4 inches less than width of the opening, which allows 2 inches on 1 side for the hinge hardware and 2 inches on the other side for the gate latch. When installing, allow a 2 inch gap between the bottom of the gate and the ground to allow for the gate to swing freely.
